Paul Leimgruber AG logistics centre in Pratteln
The company Paul Leimgruber AG recently inaugurated its new company headquarters in Pratteln. At the giant logistics facility security solutions from Securiton are providing professional protection against fire. One particular challenge was mounting the fire detectors and fire alarm control units in the warehouse, which is more than 200 m in length.
Fire protection for a new logistics centre in Pratteln
Paul Leimgruber AG is one of Switzerland's leading road haulage companies. It offers a wide range of services in the three main areas of general cargo, container logistics and warehousing. At the end of 2010 it officially inaugurated the new company headquarters in Pratteln (Canton Baselland). The giant logistics facility stands on a 48,000 m2 site and boasts a storage and handling area of more than 20,000 m2 as well as 8,000 m2 of office space. 59 loading docks down each side of the logistics building will ensure flexibility in the handling of goods and reduce the movement of goods inside the storage facility.
Securiton was commissioned to install a comprehensive fire alarm system. Given the size of the building with its overall length of more than 200 m, good advice was invaluable with regard to the line length of the SecuriPro fire alarm control panel installed by Securiton. The problem was resolved by installing control panels. Mounting 740 combined smoke and heat detectors also proved challenging as the ceiling of the warehouse in particular is very high. Securiton's suite of early fire detection components was rounded off with eleven sprinkler test boxes and 67 manual call points.
