Good all-round protection for Bell Seafood

It is a little-known fact that Bell also processes fish and seafood, and yet Bell is one of Switzerland’s major players in this industry, too. Securiton provides the company’s production facilities in Basel with reliable fire protection.
More than 90 per cent of Swiss people are familiar with the long-established Basel company by the name of Bell. Its modern specialist plants are located in the German and French-speaking parts of Switzerland. Bell Seafood in Basel is one of Switzerland’s largest fish specialists, marketing domestic and imported fish as well as seafood, both fresh and frozen. Besides offering top quality Bell Seafood is also committed to sustainable fishing. That is why in 2010 Bell Seafood became a member of the WWF Seafood Group and has eliminated the most endangered fish species from its product range.

Targeted protection

Fish and seafood is processed, packaged and readied for shipping at Bell Seafood’s premises in Basel. To protect its workforce, plant facilities and goods in the event of a fire, Bell Schweiz AG commissioned Securiton to install a comprehensive fire alarm system in its various sectors. The dry areas are monitored by the new SecuriFire fire alarm system. 150 combined smoke and heat detectors of the type SecuriStar MCD 573 (one of Securiton’s most successful models) provide early detection of smouldering, glowing and open fires. Twenty MCP 545 manual call points have also been installed to enable a manual alarm release.
In the wet production zones 700 m of the SecuriSens d-LIST line-type heat detector ensure that fire has no chance. Indeed, fires can break out even in wet production facilities, which are not compatible with fire detection methods that use conventional smoke and heat detectors. By contrast d-LIST is ideally suited for use in environments with extreme conditions. The sensor cable installed at Bell Seafood runs through temperature zones ranging from -25 °C to +40 °C..
