High-tech fire alarm system for the Rennbahnklinik
The Rennbahnklinik in Muttenz near Basel was the first sports clinic to be established in Switzerland. For over 30 years, it has provided comprehensive and specialist treatment to patients from all levels of sport.
The first sports clinic in Switzerland
The clinic has grown constantly since its establishment and relocated to spacious new facilities at the start of 2014. The new clinic has only the best equipment installed, such as the state-ofthe- art SecuriFire fire alarm system from Securiton.
Opened in 1981 under the name «Praxisklinik Rennbahn» in Muttenz, the clinic was the first institution dedicated to orthopaedic care and sports medicine in Switzerland. The number of beds was increased in 1984, whilst 1989 saw an expansion of the physiotherapy facilities and affiliation with a training centre. The clinic was awarded the title «Swiss Olympic Medical Center» in 1996. Since 1999, the biomechanics area has been expanded and the clinic was renamed the Rennbahnklinik following further restructuring. Due to growing demand, the Rennbahnklinik relocated to modern, spacious new facilities at the Polyfeld Muttenz site in January 2014. The new clinic combines the full spectrum of sports medicine services under one roof, from state-of-the-art diagnosis and therapy to rehabilitation.
Optimal fire protection thanks to SecuriFire
In order to offer the highest levels of fire protection at the new Rennbahnklinik, Securiton was asked to install their unique, highly sophisticated SecuriFire fire alarm system. The strength of this high-tech safety solution is in its fully redundant system architecture. This provides twice the safety and means that a complete system failure can, in all probability, be excluded. Combined smoke and heat detectors were installed from the second basement level to the eighth floor. These not only allow for the early detection of smouldering, glowing and open fires, but also of quickly spreading fires without smoke development. Some of the fire detectors are also equipped with audible alarm transmission so that crucial additional seconds can be gained in the event of an emergency. Manual trigger buttons were also installed in the underground car park, patient rooms, operating area and examination rooms. With the fire alarm system from Securiton, there is no doubt that the Rennbahnklinik is definitely on the safe side.
