Erfolgsgeschichte Schloss Landshut

Landshut Castle

Safety innovations ensure the preservation of the unique hunting museum.

Situated in a picturesque park traversed by watercourses, Landshut Castle sits majestically atop a sandstone hill, forming a contrast to the flat terrain of the lower reaches of Canton Bern’s Emmental region. As the last remaining intact moated castle in the canton, Landshut Castle attracts history buffs, culture vultures and ordinary visitors alike. For years, it has also been home to the Castle History Museum and the Swiss Museum of Wildlife and Hunting, which opened to the public in 1968. The focus of this unique museum is on animals that are hunted and the people who hunt them, and on raising awareness of the value of both wildlife protection and hunting. The exhibitions, replete with animal specimens and rare objects, shed light on current and historical aspects of hunting and nature.

Tradition meets innovation for protection.

1988 saw the property acquired by the Landshut Castle Foundation, while the Swiss Museum of Wildlife and Hunting is run by the Natural History Museum in Bern. To ensure the castle’s security, we were awarded the contract to modernise the fire detection system, equip the special exhibition with an intrusion alarm system, and replace the outdated video system with a state-of-the-art video security system.

The fire detection system is based around the innovative modular SecuriFire 3000 and includes 84 smoke detectors and invisible SecuriSmoke ASD aspirating smoke detectors for those parts of the edifice that are heritage protected. Safeguarding the special exhibition is the IP-based SecuriSafe intrusion alarm system, while state-of-the-art dome cameras provide pin-sharp images for the IPS VideoManager. These fascinating security solutions intelligently combine tradition and innovation in the castle.
