La Stampa

Following extensive modernisation work, La Stampa prison in Lugano, Canton Ticino has reopened with a state-of-the-art security concept. A new building houses the cantonal pre-trial remand facility with a total of 61 cells, and there are 50-plus doors that need monitoring from the operations centre.  We were able to successfully integrate our security management system, which, thanks to interfaces, seamlessly incorporates the prison’s 150 existing cells into the modernised system.

The new operations centre, consisting of two workstations, enables security throughout the La Stampa complex to be monitored at the click of a mouse via the SecuriLink UMS security management system. This has led not only to a significant simplification of the prison’s control and administrative burden, but above all to the ability to intervene quickly anywhere in the building in the event of an emergency. Entrances are monitored by a programmable control system.

Over 120 fixed and movable cameras provide full coverage of the entire prison complex, internally and externally. Modular, expandable image storage systems with high configuration flexibility provide efficient image management and recording. The comprehensive facilities for staff include an intercom system with over 110 terminals and a personal protection system.
